The islands are located 45 kilometres off the coastline from Terengganu – and this is where you will find Island Resorts on the Redang Archipelago of islands. There are nine islands in all – Lima, Paku Besar, Paku Kecil, Kerengga Besar, Kerengga Kecil, Ekor Tebu, Ling, Pinang and Redang Island.
You can fly directly to Redang with Berjaya Air from KL's Subang Airport (KL's Old Airport, Not KLCC) or from Singapore Changi Airport Budget Terminal, or travel by Ferry from Shahbandar Jetty in Terengganu or from Merang Jetty in Merang – which is closer to Redang Island.
The biggest and most popular island is Redang Island with its white sandy beaches. This is also where you can snorkel and dive on the reef to see 500 types of coral, turtles, reef sharks, occasional whale sharks, giant clams, rays, sea sponges and an estimated 3000 species of fish.
The Redang Island residents rely on Tourism and fishing for their living, and there are also resort hotels on the smaller Pulau Lang Tengah Island too (Ferry from Merang).
There are also two World War Two British shipwrecks off Redang Island – HMS Repulse and HMS Prince of Wales, both sunk by the Japanese, and also an underwater mountain to see too, with a number of different dive sites around the islands.
Other islands that also are located off the coast here are Kalong Island, Laguna, Mutiara and Pelangi Island, Perhentian, Lang Tengah and Kapas. Each of these islands is accessible by boat, and most have just one or two resort hotels on them.
We hope you have a great time here on the east coast.
